Being the first progressive label to come out of Canada, Toronto based record shop/label Release Records is one the first shops of its kind in North America. Being based in a major cosmopolitan city that is influenced heavily by the house scene of Chicago, and New York´s tribal movement, Release have built upon this foundation by adding a strong European component to the shop and label. Within their first year, they opened their second shop in London, Ontario (midway point between Toronto and Detroit), and launched their self-titled label. With this new venture, they wanted the Release Records imprint to be a solid reflection of the shop and industry. Release Records has, and always will, keep their sights on the evolution of house music, and reflect this by showcasing the industry´s top producers of today, and the super-producers of tomorrow.
