Spacefunk "Evilmoogafooga"

Out Now on Whoop Records

Steve Travell and Andy Jones are no strangers to dance music. Steve has previously worked as Bump, perhaps known for the tracks 'I'm Rushin' and 'House Stompin' and Andy has a very impressive history in making music. Together as Pussy 2000 they have crafted a name for themselves, and are no strangers to the Whoop label after remixing Tarrentella's Natural. They now return to the label under the name of Spacefunk, with the interestingly titled 'Evilmoogafooga'.

The Original Mix starts off with lots of spacey effects and funky percussion, descending into looping mayhem which just builds and builds, becoming more addictive as the synths swirli around and around. As the break comes.. a disco style vibe oozes through momentarily before the track drives right on. Pure head swinging boshing music that will do the business indoors or outdoors as long as it's got a big space to go off in.

The Dub is a slightly deeper rework, more laid back in it's approach, layering the loops in the background before slowly pushing them forward, taking us deeper style. Much madness can be had with those mix, both in it's own right, or you could creatively fuse the two together (of course you'll need two copies...) and create one mammoth mindfuck of an anthem.

It's already done the business at festivals like Glastonbury and Love Parade and is set to blow up everywhere. Quite possibly the most explosive release from Whoop! so far this year. The good old Moog peddle gets paid tribute to once again, and abused to the max this time around. I'm going to call this the start of funkyspacialdiscohouse (lets hope the magazines dont jump on that one).
