Avatar "Drifting Away (Remixes)"

Out Now on SOG Liquid

Following on from the original 12" of Drifting Away, SOG quickly follow up the package with a set of remixes with the idea that if one set dont float your boat, then the other one will, so, the question is, do the remixes of Avatar's Drifting Away manage to better the original. Let's find out.

Van Bellen steps up to the plate for the first attempt, reworking the track into a stomping progressive house vibe that he has become well known for over the years. Acid basslines roll subtly over the groove being laid down as the vocal shines in all it's glory. As always from this man the production on the track is top notch, but the remix fails to really excite me.

Rounding off things is the Minilogue Dub, taking the driving arrangements of Minilogue Vocal Mix off the first 12" and making things a little darker and sinister, but the vocal mix still reigns supreme.

So there you have it. Sometimes remixes dont manage to show the ideas they wish to achieve, but whilst you should head for the original 12" over this, i'm sure curiousity will tempt some people to check this also. Judge for yourself.
