Land Between Grooves "Electricity"

Out Now on Whoop Records

'Electricity' is what you could class as a slow burner. This little number by UK based producer Christian Evans (aka Land Between Grooves) has been slowly working it's way into the record boxes of a select few over the past few months, starting with Seb Fontaine at the tail end of the summer and soon gaining support from DJs as varied as the Chemical Brothers, Paul Woolford, Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, Timo Maas and many many more. Why? The answer to the question will soon become apparent.

A driving, dirty slice of house music, the 'Original Mix' rocks out with a twisted main loop that grinds continuously over the top of the smooth hypnotic groove that shimmers below. Kicking like a mule, the quirky beats build and drop into each vocal section where screaming crowd noise and a killer vocal hook that impacts like an atom bomb sends the floor wild each time. Drop this, and the mood will be fuckkkkkkking eeeeellllleeeectriiiiiityyyy! You have been warned.

'Mike Monday' tweaks out over on the flip, stripping out the drums and replacing them with his own funky variation, coupled with a wicked techy top line that generates a seriously wigging effect. Pulsating effects and techy sounds are stirred up in the rolling groove that unfolds. Delivering it's message in a more subtle way, the sounds are warm but at times verge on techno, with a wicked bassline to boot during the latter half which hammers it home under the filtered vocal. The mad man moves away from his usual style and provides nice support with this twisted techy interpretation.

So in answer to the question at the start. What is the common element that has drawn so many people to this. It could be the fact it's a superb dirty house track, or the fact that it's something rather fun and different. Most likely though, it's because it's fuccccking electric..
