DJ Leo "Together"

DJ Leo is one of the founders of SOG Records, making his recording debut here with the track 'Together'. An accomplished musician, his reluctance to get anything down on track has kept him out of the spotlight until now, but he was convinced into putting out this track,which comes backed by a remix from one of the label's new stars Alex Stealthy,

The 'Original Mix' sticks to that typical chunky sound that is prevalent in the majority of releases on SOG. Smooth and subtle grooves, coupled with a dose of funk and some linear melodies and harmonies is basically all she wrote here. There's no great secret or daredevil risks taken, and for what it is, its a fairly decent melodic house track that will sit amongst many others similar tracks of the style in a warm up scenario.

'Alex Stealthy' goes for a slightly deeper vibe on the flip, with a tripped out remix. Keeping the pace to a minimum, this doesn't really go anywhere or do anything, but the chord progression and keys lift the mood of what is an otherwise tepid remix to new heights, and turns the mix into a decent mid set style groover, with a strong bass lead bringing the surprising twist.

Overall, another middle of the road offering from SOG who continue to push the same boundaries day after day, month after month, and whilst on occasion there are some fairly decent mixes that drop through the box, on the whole the label is hit and miss as of late, but this particular release sits somewhat on the fence as a somewhat average offering from the label.
