Wrecked Angle "Acid Funk"

Out Now on Akademia Recordings

Wrecked Angle is the collective of DJ Steve Gerrard and studio whizz-kid Russell Pearce. Already they have made an impact with remixes of tracks by Liquideyes, and the Mara single, 'Heretic', and now they quickly follow it up with their debut Wrecked Angle single, 'Acid Funk'.

The Original Mix is built around a series of tight loops, beat arrangements all spliced together with some nice filter action and a deep sub bass groove, sprinkle in the catchy as f**k vocal taken from the God Within classic of the same name and we have a hypnotic breaks mix that will slam you down on your ass and tell that you need to dance like your life depends on it. Large and in charge...

Deep Impact take things down a slightly more beaten path, lots of twisted acid stabs dropping over the driving cut up beats, with some stinging synth action and fuller fx slipping into the mix along the way. Darker, twisted and nasty, and for a filthy breaks merchant like me, this is the equivalent of those top shelve magazines with the Reader's Wives section.

Akademia continues to drop tasty tracks that appeal to breaks fiends of all persuasions and this release shows why Messrs Gerrard and Pearce are one of the most highly rated up and coming breaks outfits in the scene today.
