Spacefunk "Evilback"

Out Now on White Label

Those cheeky Spacefunk men Steve Travell and Andy Jones have gone and done something that you would think just shouldn't work, but by sampling Vancouver rock band Nickelback's 'Remind Me', they have added an extra dimension to their track 'Evilmooogafooga'.

The funky percussion and spacial effects of the original are still present, with the big riff still building in a full on cascading loop. However the 'this is how you remind me' vocal rides over every build before dropping into the next build in intricate fashion. Besides that, it's still the same 'Evilmoogafooga', it's still head swinging boshing music, and now for fans of grunge rock, it takes on a whole new appeal, and the vocal will just add even more awareness to the track and give it potential to stand out more, although it has to be said, it's the odd couple pairing of artists, but it's good for novelty if nothing else.

Forthcoming Spacefunk material sees them put their hand to remixes of the massive 'Revolution' by Stephane Malca on Kinky Vinyl. Watch out for those mixes soon, and if this odd and slightly dodgy white label appeals to you then watch out for it.
