Shmuel & Baranes "Spanish Tale / Groove Tale"

Out Now on Yoshitoshi Recordings

Shmuel Flash and Guy Baranes get together for this Yoshitoshi moment to produce this sexy, sleezy deep house number. Shmuel is still shimmering in the spotlight since his hugely successful “Chilling Moments” released on Bedrock records. Guy Baranes does production work with Guy Gerber on “Geronimo” and also on future projects. Together the duo came to Yoshitoshi with two tales to tell.

“Spanish Tale” has been a firm favorite with John Digweed for some time and has been featured on Steve Lawler’s GU: Lights Out compilation. It is a nice paced ethnic sounding number with plenty of tribal percussion elements. The Spanish vocal that is breathed across the track gives it a sexy flair and no doubt its title.

“Groove Tale” has become a firm favorite of mine and has been featured on Progressive-Sounds “Sound Bytes with Chloé.” It starts with light, slow percussion and is quickly supplemented with a hugely deep sexy bass line. It manages to be sexy and eerie at the same time using ominous synth lines and spooky vocal cuts. This track is the one holding the review score high as it hits in a place few tracks do.
