Rey "Over My Shoulder (Remixes)"

Out Now on Skyline Records

Rey is the brainchild of Robert Gordon, a songwriter who had ideas to extend his hand into a band project, and by chance meeting with vocalist Sharon Kampta, was introduced to studio guru Luca Gatti and from there on in Rey was born, forging a sound that crosses boundaries between the commerical and underground ends of the dance spectrum. If there are any other producers who know about crossing boundaries, it would have to be the ever consistent Chus and Ceballos, who jump on the remixes here.

The Iberican Vocal remix takes all the original elements of the track and Chus and Ceballos add their own trademark fusion of drums, deep hypnotic bass and a rolling groove that will drag you in and batter your senses. Add in the vocal and we have one funky mother of a mix that is already causing a stir with the usual dark specialists such as Satoshi, Tenaglia and Clive Henry, and if the vocal isnt your bag, flip it over for a dub excursion par excellance.

More commerical remixes come from I-Jack and Magnetic Kings, so if that's your bag, go hunt those mixes down. Another hypnotic houser from Skyline who seem to be carving a niche for subtle yet essential house music.
