"Ten Squared Sampler"

Out Now on Platipus Records

Platipus have been around for many years now, with releases from the likes of Art Of Trance, POB, Union Jack and Terra Ferma becoming staple items in many DJs boxes. To celebrate ten years of being in business, the label have many surprises up their sleeves for 2002, including a new double cd album featuring some of the greatest tracks from the ten year period, and in many cases have comissioned brand new mixes of classics which will all be featured on the forthcoming album which will be mixed by Parks and Wilson.

Ahead of that comes the sampler, featuring two exclusive mixes of two timeless classics. The first, the epic All Because Of You by Universal State Of Mind gets the remix treatment from reknowned Jersey inhabitant and producer Marc Mitchell alongside his partner on the Sunday Club project, Stuart King, who weave their unique Sunday Club style on the track, whilst over on the flip, fresh out of Israel we have Moshic and Zidan's take on those Solar Stone boys tough trancer, I Want You which was released under their Z2 guise.

The bass on All Because Of You starts deep, as the breathy vocal bubbles through the beats, soft synths drifting subconciously over the bassline, before fading into a deep, dreamy instrumental section that rolls along. A rude b-line heralds the start of the break and the vocal takes full control as the Marc and Stuart drop in some sweet synths to take the track to the next level. A faithful reincarnation and one that works well on the dancefloor.

Meanwhile Moshic and Zidan retain the throbbing feel of the original version of I Want You, going for a more atmospheric feel with a deep echoing bassline and clattering synths with rising riff effects, driving along relentlessly as the vocal is sinisterly teased as it warbles behind the powerful bassline, letting the vocal drive through the soundscape and hitting you hard. Evil, Sinister and unforgettable. Considering its one of Moshic and Zidan''s first attempts at a remix its tightly put together and shows that these guys are credible remixers as well as producers.

Platipus are off the starting blocks, and its going to be exciting to see what else they have in store for 2002.
