Oscar G & Stryke "Hypnotized"

Out Now on Hooj Choons

Resident at the Space club in Miami, Oscar G teams up with fellow native Stryke to deliver this superb US house number that was originally blowing up during the Winter Music Conference in 2001. Now with the perfectly suited vocals from Tabatha Byng, could this be another success for Hooj. Let us find out.

Red Jerry delivers his first remix in a long while on Disc One, a deep driving percussive number that builds and builds as the vocal punches through the speakers, tight compacted beats giving way to the powerul vocal. Once again Jerry delivers the goods. Of course, if any man could follow this, it would have to be the most excellent Charles Webster, who sprinkles some cut up beats and guitar effects over the bassline, placing the echoing vocal in the background, giving the track a very deep feel.

Meanwhile, Sharam Jay delivers a mix that starts off with what sounds like very trippy percussion, before funky effects break this up and give way to some almost electro sounding bass with the deep male vocal stab weaving in and out of the bassline as Tabatha's full vocal bubbling through to the surface before the bassline lifts once more. A guaranteed floor filler as we have come to expect from Sharam. Oscar G finishes off this superb set of mixes with a tribal workout that drifts along as the main vocal sits snuggly on top of the beats, acidic stabs bursting on the surface with spooky pad effects giving this mix a dark yet 'hypnotic' feel.

If this is a sign of the quality we can expect in 2002 from Hooj, then all I have to say is lots more please Mr Jerry and co.
