Oko Tek "Whitelight / Spirits"

Out Now on Music Now Records

Music Now has huge potential with Holmes Ives producing quality track like this one for their label. Attention is certainly surrounding him as of late with tracks on Hope, Bedrock and Yoshitoshi scheduled to release before the end of the year. Following his prior Music Now releases ("Eclipse", “Tazer”, "Avatar Space"), Holmes Ives comes back under his darker, more sinister Oko Tek front to deliver “Whitelight” and “Spirits”.

Starting with the A side of this EP, Ives lashes out with “Whitelight”. He uses his signature chugging drum sequencing as a foundation for spoken vocal samples and layered samples. The bottom end madness below has the potential to vibrate bolts out of the floor, so be careful.

“Spirits” is on the flipside, and is hauntingly striking. While spirit like vocal elements surround your head, deep synth patterns start to emerge leading a dark path throughout the journey. Oko Tek is back. Oko Tek is definitely back.

By the time you read this review, “Mystic Roya” (by Salome and Ives) has probably already been released on Bedrock which John Digweed has been all over for months. “Mystic Roya” is a remix of a track from his upcoming full lengther “Tetrasomia”. Holmes first full length release will also feature “Phusis” which has just been signed to Hope Recordings and “Eros” which will release on Yoshitoshi. You will most likely hear a lot of tracks from the LP in Ives’ upcoming hybrid dj/live tour around the world.
