ODD "Dont Look At Me (Remixes)"

Following on from the Original and Paul Rogers mixes of Greek trio ODD's track 'Don't Look At Me', Sumsonic deliver the final half of the package, featuring the guys who together were responsible for putting tweaks on the original. Those guys are Fotis Paterakis and Darko.

Fotis Paterakis's 'F Pat Mix' starts off with with some rapid fire percussion but soon descends into a looping groove that moves along. The samples used in this section would easily tricking you into thinking its a remix of Second Hand Satellites 'Orbit' as the sound and arrangement are very similar. However, as soon as the vocal slides in briefy, things head towards a drum charged breakbeat tip on the outro of the track. Sadly, compared to the mixes on the original 12", this pales in comparison and the use of some obvious samples doesn't really do it any justice either

Darko takes the original version and extended things out a bit on the 'Darko Dub'. Deeper sound arrangements are placed over the hypnotic bass groove as the intro builds its way up to the main section of the track, evolving with a moody ambience that grows within the track during it's move towards a harder and darker arena, finishing off in trademark Darko style.

So there you have it. Not particularly able to live up to the original 12" of mixes, and worth checking out only for the Darko Dub in all honesty, but if the other 12" of mixes doesn't float your own boat, then this one should have something which might suit you better.
