Leon Roberts "In The Hole"

Out Now on Shaboom Records

Shaboom drop a 'hole in one' as we go 'In The Hole' with Leon Roberts. Many people probably remember Leon better from his work with brother Matthew as King Unique and Ubu, but this shows just why Danny Tenaglia hails him as one of the hottest producers on the planet. It is quite possible you may have heard this oustanding track unknowingly, but read on just in case I jog your memory.

Leon's 'Original Mix' is a delight. A large acid bassline drawing us back to the days when it was just about the music, as chimes drift in subconciously over the bass with a slight homage to the epic Pink Floyd oozing through. Wind in some tight soul shaking drums and we have one of the freshest most dynamic tracks to emerge this year. I can't say enough about how good this is.

But... flip it over for the Wink Interpretation and your mind is left to be mashed into a pulp as the lord of acid weaves an hypnotic mind alterning bassline that quite possibly says 'Buy This Record!!'. I wrote all this, but frankly I could have just summed up the entire single by saying 'Oh My God!!'

Shaboom show why they are one of the most respected house imprints today and with forthcoming material from Ubu and the Second Hand Satellites, no doubt they will be keeping things real well into 2003.
