Late Night Sneaky "Purr Project"

Out Now on Distinctive Records

Late Night Sneaky are part of San Fran's thriving music scene and have a policy to simply just release dance music that kicks ass. Already this track was featured on a recent Y4K cd, and they have forthcoming material to come on Baroque via another project of theirs. However, in the meantime let's take a look at 'Purr Project' and see if it kicks ass or not.

Deep rattling percussion drills through a tough pulsating kick drum that switches into action right from the start on the 'Original Mix'. Large guitar riffs break up the breakbeat arrangements whilst the mood takes a more laid back feel. However this is short lived as sirens erupt and in a split second we are back in the chaotic jungle of beats, with the sounds totally battering your sense of direction. Trippy and twisted goodness from San Fran.

The 'Purr Mix' is a different kettle of fish, with stripped back percussion over a rough drum arrangement founding the backdrop against bubbling atmospherics and a driving riff are placed. Things change halfway through a raindrops falls over the soundscape and deeper pulsating bass slides under the warm guitar chords, totally throwing you a curve ball, whilst the guitar riff will be stuck in your head afterwards.

As part of the new 4000AD collection, this track shows in part some of the ideas and directions Distinctive have been exploring. With further material from Dave London & Filthy Rich, Christian J and Quiet Killaz, it will be interesting to see how the 4000AD concept kicks off.
