Illinton "New Dreams EP"

Out Now on Hooj Choons

Danish producer Illinton has been making dreamy house music for many years now, and most recently has produced stunning remixes for Choc Electrique's Edge Of Time, Nova Scotia's Loose Leaves and New Phunk Theory's Colours Of The Night. Now he returns with an EP of his own original work, entitled New Dreams.

The title track is a deep, bliissed out trippy slice of deep house in Illinton's own unique style, featuring the dubby vocals of Coco Sapur. You can really feel the heat emiting from the warm beat ladden soundscape that he lays down, and also included on the EP is a slightly darker interpretation which shows another side to this talented producer.

However, my own favourite part of the EP has to be the ambient tracks that are included. First up is a Chillout Beats mix of New Dreams which is sublime to say the least, and Desert Storm is one of those tracks that just makes you want to kick back, relax and let your mind go off to far away places, easily losing yourself in the beautiful sounds that transmit through the speaks. Rounding off the EP is the delicious piano based Piano Moods, which lives up to its name, being a moody downtempo masterpiece that will have you coming back for more.

Hooj have taken a very ballsy move by featuring a lot of ambient work on their main label, and they have to be commended for pushing boundaries where other labels would dare not go to. It will be interesting to see what other genres they will be crossing in the next few months.
