HDI "Decimator"

Out Now on USR Recordings

Washington DC is home to many things, the White House, Yoshitoshi and of course Deep Dish, but its also the home of Holmes Ives, an experimental producer whos past productions have spanned many genres, including downtempo and drum and bass, but most people would probably know him better for his productions as Memnon or Oko Tec, and now he dons another disguise and becomes HDI for his latest production, his first for USR, Decimator.

The Original Mix is a dark analogue fuelled workout, relentlessly driving along, reverb feeding back as the bassline growls, synth stabs interrupting momentarily as the pace picks up once more, fading down into the analogue stabs, feeding back more tham ever as the track climaxes. Innovative, unique, and has things happening in all the places you'd least expect them.

The Oko Tec mix eases back on the mayhem, but instead emphasises the bassline, splicing it up and looping it in unique and twisted style, layering beats over each other as the hook rises and lowers in a dirty funk fuelled style, then out of nowhere in the break a massive drop hits you in the face before the track picks you up and pushes you on once more. Twisted.

Having released on over 7 different labels worldwide and had 30 plus releases, one would think that Ives has spread himself too wide. However this, his debut release for USR says otherwise.
