Out Now on Yoshitoshi Recordings

Eddie Amador doesn’t “make” tracks…he “engineers” them to make you move. His funky grooves continuously are caned by djs worldwide and his attention to quality is relentless. He follows the belief that tracks should always have in them, “twice as much soul and twice as much energy but with just as much groove.” Just take a listen to Eddie’s sensational “House Music” and “Rise” and you’ll hear exactly what he means.

Psycho X Girlfriend is no different. It’s already proven itself as a track, which will set dancefloors ablaze. After Eddie premiered it at the Winter Music Conference in Miami this past spring, djs around the globe began including it in their sets. Not just any djs, but very high profile ones including Steve Lawler, Danny “Bhudda” Morales, Mert Yucel of Choo Choo Records and Roger Sanchez. On those names alone, you should realize this track isn’t one to be overlooked.

The track is very much a gritty hard beat stomper. A beat accompanied by a high-hat and handclap is heard throughout its entirety and although it might be highly repetitive, it’s very addictive. A wave-like sound washes through at times as well. But the focal point of the track is the vocal samples. A telephone dialing into a “wrong number” message starts it out, and then introduces the other main sample which is two-chord filtered keyboard riff somewhat similar in key to the first chords of Inner City’s classic, “Good Life.” The telephone dialing comes back in and this time around we hear the female dialogue of a girl complaining about how the ex-girlfriend of the dj showed up in the booth Friday night. The vocal is spoken with a tone of annoyance, and she sums it up by throwing in “she’s such a psycho” and “she needs help.” Throw this track down before or after Green Velvet’s “Stalker” and you’ll really get the dancefloor in a freaky state of mind these two tracks can conjure up! The dub is exactly like the main mix except the only vocal included this time is “She Needs Help.”

Yoshitoshi is set to release the double pack vinyl on September 16, which will include additional mixes by PQM.
