Cuba Computers "Haunting Me"

Out Now on Shinichi Recordings

Yoshitoshi's sub label Shinichi has gone from strength to strength in recent months with releases such as BLHIII's Marscarter being well received right across the board. Their latest release comes from Cuba Computers with the track 'Haunting Me' which has already been supported by the likes of Dannys Howells and Tenaglia and Erick Morillo. Cuba Computers provide two remixes whilst the excellent men from Stereo Productions out of Spain, Chus and Ceballos add some flavour on the remix disc.

The Original Mix brings together a sense of warmth thanks to a deep and meaningful bassline, which holds together the subtle beat arrangement which just fall softly over the sounds being crafted within the core of the track, as some heartfelt sounds emerge from within paving the way for Derek Conyer's dreamy, enchanting vox to sift through. Spinechilling stuff. The Laid Mix is a more restrained, with emphasis placed on the eerieness that was present in the original, but everything is held back and delivered only fleetingly for haunting effect, and it achieves this with relative ease.

Chus and Cebellos add some of their drums and rhythms to the track, retaining all the main elements of the original, but slipping in some harmonies and melodies amongst the arrangements, giving their mixes a more upbeat feel. Both are very similar in style , only slightly varying in direction, but provide some nice alternative mixes for the dancefloor, with the Dubby Mix being my personal favourite of the two.

Shinichi delivers another hot doublepack, and continues to follow in the footsteps of Yoshitoshi as being an imprint that will carve itself an accoladed history over time.
