Out Now on Hooj Choons

Chris Lum hails from San Francisco and has etched a name for himself over recent months with productions and remixes on more than a handful of labels including NRK, Credence and Defected and has previously remixed Echomen's Truth for Hooj before unleashing this doublepack, Feelin High / You're Mine off his own back. Time to find out if his clean slate will remain unscathed.

The Original Mix of Feelin High (Thinking Of You) is a house workout of the highest calibre. An infectious groove works in tandem with a tight drum beat over which the vocal is sprinkled in admidst a captivating melody and layered synths. As the vocal is left in control halfway through the track really grabs your attention before continuing on it's designated course once more. Groovy as...

You're Mine heralds a journey to the darker side of house, into the style that perhaps Steve Lawler would play, a trippy percussive groove holding the reigns of a large dose of funk and diva style vocals. Minimally arranged but sleazily addictive.

On the second disc Nova Scotia continue in fine form, reworking 'Feelin High' into a deep and soulful yet majorly funky vibe, whilst the disc is backed up with some 'extras' in the form of a radio friendly version of You're Mine in addition to an acapella of Feelin High. One for the djs indeed.
