Chris Dee "Ultrasound"

Out Now on Kubist Recordings

Following on from Sunscape Vs Chris Dee's Generik, the Chab Mix of which found it's way onto Chris Fortier's Bedrock CD, Chris now flys solo with his latest solo production, Ultrasound, with the remix coming from Mr Sunscape himself, Ben Shaw.

Ben is up first, delivering what can only be described as a deep 'journey'. Soft synths drift into a nice percussive groove as subtle atmospherics bubble in the background, before some deeply evocative vocal action is dropped into the fray, and the percussion line really comes into its own, creating a real feeling of depth with its panning synth action in the background. Techy style chords take the track onward to the break where some nice uplifting chords increase the pace slightly as the percussion line leads the track into the closing stages. Once again, Ben Shaw delivers a stunning mix that will work on many dancefloors.

On the flip we have Chris Dee's original interpretation, atmospheric effects hitting in from the outset, leading into some slick cut up percussive beats, as a nice kick beat is slipped in, taking the track off in another direction, a faster, breakier, synth workout, with some neat vox effects tucked away in the background. As the break lowers the pace momentarily, the track picks up once more, with some nice heavenly chords being played behind the percussion to superb effect. A great production and proof that this man does not rely on Ben Shaw to produce the goods in the studio, creating a superb progressive breaks workout in the process

Now on its second release, Kubist is proving to be a great way for these two talented men to put out some great material. One can only wonder what they have in store for us next.
