Chonga "The Quantum Gospel"

Out Now on Mechanism Records

Phil Jason, a New York producer who has appeared out of nowhere in recent months to make a major impact on the progressive scene, having had tracks signed to Plastic Fanastic, SAW, Yoshitoshi and this label, Mechanism. His blueprint of deep and funky twisted sounds has earned him respect from the likes of John Digweed who is a major fan of his, as well as his tracks being played in sets by the likes of Deep Dish, Chris Fortier and Satoshi Tomiie.

Quantam Gospel is his debut release for Mechanism, and the first of many as Chonga, in addition to his productions as JAS on other labels. There are two mixes on offer here, one by Phil himself, and another by Sumsonic's superb production outfit, Sleepfreaks.

The Original Mix is a deep dark slice of percussive house, interwoven with intricate loops and dark tribal effects whilst the Sleepfreaks remix is on a deeper tip, with a haunting synth placed behind the production that twists and turns, building the momentum up and up in that unmistakeable Sleepfreaks style.

A superb debut release for this promising producer, and a refreshing change to a lot of other tracks on the market at the moment. Make sure you check this out.
