Amani Vs Teapot "Desert Dub EP"

Out Now on Ritual Sounds

Ritual Sounds quickly follows up Seed's 'Blue Vibrations' with an EP from Amani Vs Teapot. Amani is Amani Rafiki and Teapot is DJ Treavor. Together the duo have already had material released on Red Menace and Moonshine, as well as remixes for the likes of Rhythm Syndicate. Their track 'Wise Man Speaks' was on Chris Fortier's Bedrock album as well. Now the duo delivers their first release for Ritual Sounds in the form of the 'Desert Dub EP'

'Future Dub' is a nice little track which opens the account for the EP, a smooth percussive house groove powering a dubbed out bassline that weaves a twisted path with it's use of synth arrangements combined with some deep sub bass effects which really hold it all together nicely.

'2 Days In The Desert' on the other hand is a little more restrained, utilising percussion as it's main charm, and it's this element which controls the track. A funky drum loop runs over the bassline amongst layer upon layer of trippy distorted effects which emulate a very quirky and bizzare sound which hypnotises you.

No doubt we can expect much more from this duo and indeed Ritual Sounds as we head into 2003. I am interested to see what else this label comes up with.
