Alexander Church "Welcome To My World"

Out Now on Gravitation Records

As a first of many releases on Gravitation, "Welcome To My World", already making the Balance Promote charts, will be a hit with many. Alexander Church is no stranger to dance floor productions as “Soulkeepers", his debut release on Dorigin, gave him an entrance to be remembered.

Alexander’s original mix of “Welcome To My World” is minimistically melodic amid a deep vocal phrase; "Once again the powers of the earth open up the mind. See deep inside, tell me what you find." With the sample repeating throughout the track and the bass line moving it all along, you can’t help but get lost deep inside the rhythmic beast. The melodramatic synth line introduces itself about half way into the track and pushes the track to new depths, tickling your conscience, opening your mind.

On the flip side, Mark Wheawill steers the track into a different path. Immediately it comes off sounding less moody, however it slowly progresses with its dusky atmosphere. The hypnotic bass line rides on together with blips of ambience effects. The same vocal sample is repeated through this one, but it is not thrown down as heavily.

Each mix has its own distinct sound but both will appeal to the same crowd. Given that neither cut has much of a climax and since they are mostly minimal and unobtrusive, this 12” will fit nicely into any set. The original mix has more punch and could be called upon later in the night where Mark’s mix would be great for early evening. If I had to guess, I’d say one version of this track will find a home in the record box of John Digweed. It’s that good.
