Alex & Tommy Boy "Haw (Remixes)"

Mechanism continues it's relationship with Underground Records in Hungary with a release from Tommboy. As owner of the Underground Records stores and consortium of labels, he has worked with the guys from Mechanism for many years, and this track was originally released in it's original form on his Planetarium imprint. Mechanism seeing the potential for remixes snapped the track up for release and called upon some of their friends to provide the remixes of 'Haw' which are presented here for your listening pleasure.

First up to the pitch is the excellent 'Luke Chable', whom the Mechanism boys and also myself rate very highly. He doesn't waste no time in cutting to the chase, dropping into a dark and driving groove that rockets forward, filtered vocal action drilling through the bass groove and causing waves of sound that push forward hitting us in the eerie void that is the break, before the groove kicks back in, only this time atmospherics control the flow with tremendous results. Hats off to Mr Chable for another fine mix.

The remix comes from fast rising Hungarian artist 'Julez', whose dub takes things down a more old skool influenced path working the groove into a series of loops and driving beats, which although not particularly different to Luke Chable's mix offers a mix for a slightly different dancefloor moment. This kid will soon be someone you hear much more of as he has many remixes and an EP to come in 2003.

Another outing for Mechanism that whilst not perhaps an earth shattering 12", more than holds its own as one of those records you can keep in the back of the box that's guaranteed to work.
