"Silver Planet: 50th Anniversary Release (Part Two)"

Out Now on Silver Planet Recordings

Back in the summer of 2004, we were treated to the first installment of Silver Planet's 50th Anniversary release, and now several months on comes the second and final. In recent times the label's growth has seen many new talents join it's roster, but this 12" takes a retrospective look at the back catalogue, and once again get some of today's current stars to pay homage.

The 'Grayarea Mix' of Red Baron's 'Vandenberg' could in essence be an original track in it's own right, as they opted only to use the original's samples sparingly and instead set to work and created a dirty, trippy breakbeat track that whilst bordering on the edge of the ravey side of the genre, has enough elements to keep the dancefloor firmly held in it's grip.

On the flip, the 'Aidan Lavelle Mix' of Chimera's 'In Deep' sees the Sasha favourite get updated in superb fashion, building on the original template with some zoney melodies and hypnotic rhythms that build and build as the track drives forward. It may take a while to find it's niche, but when it finally does, just watch the devastation each subliminal key change has the potential to cause, as this new remix adds a powerful new twist to an already epic classic.

Already well on their way to another 50 releases, Silver Planet are but one of few long standing labels still remaining, and if they can continue to put out tracks of the caliber of Chimera's 'In Deep', the remix of which is the shining star of this 12", then they are likely to be around for some time to come.
