Unkle Feat Ian Brown "Reign"

Out Now on GU Music

Having previously worked together on the 1999 release 'Be There', Ian Brown and James Lavelle once again team up for the latest Unkle single 'Reign'. Taken from the recent and soon to be re-released album 'Never Never Land', this is without a doubt one of the standout tracks of the album, and wisely the people at Unkle's new home, GU Music have decided to wheel out this single in support of the full worldwide release of the album, calling in some of the scene's biggest names to add their own unique touch to the track to ensure it is not missed by anyone.

First up we have 'Way Out West'. Hot on the heels of their recently released third album 'Don't Look Now', Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff deliver their first remix in two years, but do not disappoint with a grand and epic big room mix that is undoubtedly one of their best. Much like their own track 'Killa' this mix is a massive fusion of orchestral arrangements and atmospheric sounds, with Ian Brown's unmistakable vocal submerged right into the heart of it's layered soundscape, taking 'Reign' firmly to the heart of the dancefloor, where this mix totally dominates.

'Evil 9' are on hand to provide the second of the remixes, and as usual are on form once more. Taking a more laid back route than Way Out West, Evil 9 construct an interesting canvas of warped sounds, filtered loops and electro beats. Abstract effects and arrangements twist and contort the vocal in different ways, and whilst it's not as in your face as some of Evil 9's other work, it's another worthy addition to their discography, and a mix that breakbeat purists will no doubt embrace with open arms.

With the track having been supported by both Sasha and John Digweed in it's various incarnations, it's quite possible you've heard this already, but if you haven't be sure to track down this first set of remixes, and watch out for the further mixes which will see the return of False Prophet, as Unkle are determined to reign once again.
