The Music "Freedom Fighters (John Digweed & Nick Muir Remixes)"

Out Now on Virgin Records Ltd

Emerging out of Leeds, England and into the spotlight in 2002, The Music made a major impact when their self titled debut album rocketed up the UK Top 10 album chart and cementing in stone that this quartet were more than just another bunch of young hopefuls, but in fact the real deal. At the time these guys, Rob Harvey, Phil Jordan, Adam Nutter and Stuart Coleman were only 18 years old, but rather than caving into the pressures that this new found stardom brought, they took it in their stride, embarking on a relentless tour around the globe before returning to the studio earlier this year to work on their second album 'Welcome To The North'. 'Freedom Fighters' is the first single to be taken from this forthcoming long player, and further establishing their status, it has been remixed here by two guys who have remixed such legendary and diverse artists New Order and Underworld. Those two guys? John Digweed and Nick Muir.

Taking time to offer a series of different mixes of this track, John and Nick have pulled out all the stops. First up we have the 'John Digweed & Nick Muir Mix', a rocking interpretation that remains faithful to The Music's original working, but gives it a deep and dark twist in the true style that these two do via their work as Bedrock. The production here is second to none, the use of rolling beats and big basslines bringing out the rock elements and emphasising them, turning The Music's vision into one that will not only cause chaos and mayhem at the summer festivals, but also any dance tent or nightclub it gets presented to, and with an equally satisfying 'Instrumental Mix' from Digweed & Muir, this pair of mixes will undoubtedly take The Music to a whole new audience.

The real gem of the package however is Digweed & Muir's 'Club Dub'. Taking a slightly more understated route than the other mixes, this is the mix that true fans of the duo's work will flock to. A heavy bassline shimmers its way through the rugged beats that ricochet over the top, with several subtle changes during the duration of the mix placing focus on the dynamics that have proven to work time and time again, and whilst it doesn't have the Bedrock name on the label, this is another massive remix from two of the underground's finest, and without a doubt a mix that will be getting many plays in the coming months.

Taking The Music into the underground, John Digweed & Nick Muir have pulled out the stops and show that when it comes to blurring the lines that divide the music scene, they really are in a league of their own, and in line with the track's title, are always pushing forward and trying to turn people onto the music, whatever it's shape or form.
