The Hypnotist "Rainbows In The Sky"

Out Now on Silver Planet Recordings

Casper Pound is a name many long time progressive music lovers will be more than familiar with. As founder of the legendary label Rising High, he led a moment that included such varied artists as Union Jack, Oliver Lieb, Luke Vibert and Westbam, amongst countless others. The man responsible for 'A Fever Called Love' as part of the Rising High Collective and many tracks under the guise of The Hypnotist, his talent reached many people over the years, and his untimely death earlier this year came as a shock to most. 'Rainbows In The Sky' was the first release on Rising High, and as a tribute to his work as one of the main artists during the label's early years, Silver Planet now re-release the track in his remembrance.

The new update of this early 90s classic by 'Orchid' graces the a-side. Tightening up the beats and dropping a smooth rolling bassline over the top, Orchid's electronic sounds and sweeping melodies merge with the main elements of the Casper Pound's original seamlessly, as the mix smoothly glides along, subtly venturing into breakbeat territory as it reaches its euphoric peak.

Of course, who could forget the original 'Natural High Mix'. A classic from back in the day, it's piano chords and skipping beats reminding us of the sounds of that era, and its this coupled with the unique sounds, effects and stirring vocal that earned this track it's recognition. Whilst it sounds slightly dated in this day and age, it's a reminder of this talented producer's work which is now lost.

He may have gone, but we'll always find a rainbow in the sky thanks to the quality music that Casper Pound has left behind. A fitting tribute to a highly respected producer, a trip down memory lane for some, and a classic brought back into the spotlight to celebrate the legacy that will always rise high.
