The Dolphins "House Panic"

Out Now on Hooj Choons

Originally released on Guidance Recordings several months ago, the latest Hooj release comes from Italian outfit 'The Dolphins', who have been etching a name for themselves with their blend of no nonsense funk edged house grooves and rocking beats. 'House Panic' is no exception..

A gnarly bass guitar hook and swaying drum beats keep the 'Original' jackin along, as a hypnotic indie style vocal navigates it's way through subtle layered drops and electro riffs, taking you into it's hold as it lifts you up, brings you down and gets your ass shakin at the local disco..

Following on from there is the excellent 'Paul Woolfood' who delivers the first of two remixes, stretching out the drums and adding a bubbling bassline and acid ic goodness that ripples and rises, kicking like a mule towards the end in true speaker tweakin fashion.

Lifted from the original Guidance release, the 'Inland Knights' strip the track down to it's basics, replacing the original parts with a big rolling disco groove and lashing of loving warm chords, never really rocking the house, but providing a nice laid back revision for that slightly more alternative set.

A mixed bag for sure.. which is very much the case with a lot of Hooj's output at the moment. It's appeal may not be as widespread as a lot of other records out there, but this particular 12" offers three uniquely different mixes which you should at least some use from.
