Swain Snell & Lucas Present Leatherheads "Floods Of Water / Travelling"

Out Now on Shinichi Recordings

Swain and Snell are back and on top form. Tons of great music here to choose from including a deep vocal track featuring vocalist Antonia Lucas, as well as a nice rocking breakbeat number that will keep heads happy. The synths are lush and move throughout nicely. The drums are on point and this whole package rocks.

‘Floods Of Water’ opens with a nice kick drum. Layers are slowly added and sounds delay and fall off of each other. A clanging sound hits nicely, and tays deep in the mix. A dark, whispering voice emerges from the glistening sounds that twinkle in the background, as chords change key over the electo groove, keeping the energy going until the end.

‘Traveelling' starts with a strange metallic sounds and a long synth. The synth is a nice sweeping sound, which goes up and down. As Antonia's deep vocal enters, the pads wash up behind her. The groovy bassline expands, lending a funky edge to the track Some more drums come in, along with some scary harsh sounds. Antonia's voice still remains in in control of the track before disappearing amongst the synths at the break, only to emerge once more as the track draws to a close.

The dub of 'Travelling' starts with the same signature beats. A clap is used, and random hitting sounds come in. Some tribal metallic sounding toms come in. They are very apparent, and hit nicely along the sweeping sounds. A high hat comes in to build it up some more. The bass is groovy and low as Antonia's vocal is used sparingly, leading into the break, atmospherics sliding in before the drums return for the finale.

Swain and Snell's mix of 'Floods Of Water' surprises as thick breakbeats hit hard from the intro, with a rock influence very evident. The quirky vox leads into the electro edged build that takes us to the break, where the synths grow larger and larger, sweeping across the soundscape with the track heading into a tougher more mechanical push for the outro.

Swain and Snell are constantly creating sounds for us under numerous aliases. This is just another great slice of their sound. A great release for Shinichi as well.
