Stewart Keenan & Liquideyes "Advocate"

Out Now on Navigation Records

The latest release on Navigation sees label owner Stewart Keenan return once more, this time teaming up with Liquideyes, who's track 'Blackout' launched the label back in the summer of 2002. 'Advocate' brings a number of remixes into the fray, in an attempt to take the track deep into the heart of the dancefloor, with the highly respected Madam Breaks providing a mix alongside newcomers Conceptual and Frequential Road.

Setting the standard, 'Madam Breaks' twists things up with some loops, chunky beats rolling around the driving groove, as big stabs and a sinister vocal add a menacing edge to the track. The First Lady of Breaks does not disappoint, and this mix will get you bouncing, no doubt about that.

'Conceptual' steps up to the plate next, with some heavy hitting beats leading into this progressive breaks version of the track. Building up the intensity as analogue effects start rising underneath, some unexpected key changes changing up the momentum slightly, as the mix shifts into a more melodic direction, but doesn't really lift much, making it more of a mood setter than a big room mix.

The final mix is provided by 'Frequential Road' who bring together a solid 4/4 groove and drifting melody lines to create an eerie progressive house version that will work well when dropped in a dark room, creating a nice trippy vibe for you to confuse people with, and at the same time bringing a versatility to the overall single.

Not a bad offering from Navigation, but one that's not likely to turn heads, falling just behind the previous release 'Feel Now'. There are many singles which offer the same and have stronger appeal, so I would suggest listening before deciding if this is your cup of tea.
