Steiger "Postcard From The Edge (Remixes)"

Out Now on Bedrock Records

The second chapter in the 'Postcard From The Edge' story arrives, with another set of mixes from Simon 'Steiger' Rogers himself, adding an extra edge to the package as a whole, as well as a slightly different take for those who want something a little different from the original 12". Here's what this second disc offers..

The 'Edgeland Mix' moves away from the sounds crafted on the original 12", and takes 'Postcard' down a tougher, tech influenced road. A big rolling loop arrangement cuts through the centre of the track, not easing off the pace at all for the first half of the track, fading out slowly to the break where the original's vocal hook now makes an appearance, as the driving percussion slowly suffocates it, as the analogue outro takes over to bring the mix to a twisted climax. And there's more to come yet..

The final mix is the 'Underdub', a deep percussive work of the track, subtle chords and warm beats wrapping themselves around a contant groove through which the main vocal hook occassionally filters. Sublime piano conceals slight key changes which make the sounds weave up and down. building momentarilty to a dreamy break where the piano and vocal meet head on, paving the way to an upbeat atmospheric outro that oozes class and quality.

Another fine set of mixes from Mr Rogers, and whilst not perhaps being up there with the mixes on the original 12", are definately worth a look. Watch out for much more from Steiger in the weeks and months to come, and if you have a chance to go see his excellent live show, dont hesitate as it's awesome..
