Rennie Pilgrem "Some Place Funky"

Out Now on MOB Records

Long time breaks fiends will no doubt be able to cast their minds back a few years to the launch of MOB Records and Rennie Pilgrem's 'Some Place Funky'. Back in the day this track did the business for pretty much everyone who's anyone, and when word got around that the Plump DJs had beefed it up and updated it, MOB's phone started ringing off the hook as everyone wanted a copy. Now after several months, it all begins again as 'Some Place Funky' reappears on the label it started.

THAT mix by the 'Plump DJs' graces the a-side, and you only have to drop the needle down on top of the record to find out what the fuss is all about. Funky kicks, cut up loops and phat as fuck wigged out beats are all thrown into one crazy arrangement that pounds like a school bully, breaking up on as the horns re-enter during the latter half before quite literally imploding. Large, and well rather plumpy indeed.

Rennie's own 'Ladbroke Grove' original mix sits on the b, untouched and sounding still as fresh as it did almost half a decade ago now, but this 12" is all about the Plumps mix and this is merely an added extra.

The MOB hit hard, with the Plumps assassinating dancefloor after dancefloor with a killer update - come get some.
