Red Jerry Feat BJ Robson "When It Comes Around (Remixes)"

Out Now on Hooj Choons

As usual, all Hooj releases come in two halves, and Red Jerry's 'When It Comes Around' is no exception. With the original 12" having featured a set of quality house mixes from RJ himself, this disc takes things down the more diverse and experimental route, with a futuristic house interpretation by Red Jerry sitting alongside a mix from Bryan Robson himself, under his acclaimed Nova Scotia guise.

Picking up where the original 12" of mixes left off, Red Jerry turns in his third and final mix of the single in the form of the 'Cut One Mix'. Moving away from the previous mixes, a jackin' groove pulls together layer upon layer of bobbing beats as the vocal is sliced and diced over the top and a topping of bass testing tweeter effects to put the icing on the cake so to speak.

Finally, Bryan himself turns in another choice 'Nova Scotia' interpretation, stripping things back to the basisc and dropping in a nice warm rolling bassline which pushes forward with rolling beat loops sitting snuggly in the background. Swirling effects encase the vocal as it becomes submerged in warm sub bass, just drifting along in hazy laid back fashion, a stark contrast to the chaos and intensity of some of the other mixes. Nicely done as usual.

These are the lest accessible mixes, but do not let that put you off. Both showcase a high level of production, and will no doubt appeal to the more diverse dj or listener out there amongst you. Top stuff from Bryan Robson and another fine single from the godfather of the Hooj mafia. Dont miss it.
