Quivver "Unreleased Mixes EP"

Out Now on X Series

A pair of rare Quivver mixes are brought together here on this 'Unreleased Mixes EP', taking us back in the day somewhat as we are presented with a new remix of Quivver's age old classic and one of his first productions, 'Twist & Shout', in addition to the much sought after and unreleased dub version of his remix of the Culture Club track 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me, making this limited white label one that all John Graham fans won't want to miss.

The remix of 'Twist & Shout' comes from Marc Mitchell, whom many will be more than familiar with thanks to his work as part of Sunday Club and Human Movement. Building on the foundations of the original, Marc adds his own effects and driving arrangements to create a satisfying progressive remix. Letting the vocal dictate the pace, sliding over the pumping bassline, it's the big melodic keys and strings that add much here, bringing the track kicking and screaming into the here and now, with just a little old school flavour topping it off nicely.

Quivver's unreleased dub of Culture Club's 'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me' strips back that all too familiar vocal, and what we are left with is a deep and spacious club mix that has all the dynamics of it's counterpart, but does sound rather dated when compared to some of the music around today. Nevertheless, still a classic and one that will bring a smile to many who remember the track from it's original release.

For fans of Quivver, this will no doubt be a welcome release, and is worth checking out if only for Marc Mitchell's tribute to 'Twist & Shout', but other than that this is one for long time progressive lovers or diehard John Graham fans only.
