Phil K & Habersham "Cloudbrake"

Out Now on Audio Therapy

Phil K and Habersham are no strangers to each other or indeed Audiotherapy. Both have had ties with the label practically since it's inception, and are both part of the mad as eggs trio known as The Operators with Dave Preston. 'Cloudbrake' is another production to emerge from this meeting of minds, and if you are familiar with the past work of both individuals you should already have an idea of what to expect.

The 'Original Mix' is a devastating breakbeat creation, heavy tech-edged beats laying the foundation for what soon becomes a fierce and filthy bass-led monster. Massive stabs, rolling arrangements and a piercing vocal hook pull it all together in a subtle but incredibly effective way, and the end product is a track that will give even the most high end sound systems a thorough workout.

'Lexicon Avenue' strip things down, and go for a more restrained 4/4 vibe on the flip. Tough tribal drums and a solid house groove provide the backdrop, and as the mix develop, all the classic production elements shine through, with some dark and moody effects and a shape shifting bassline making this another fine outing for the trio from Newcastle, England.

Audiotherapy once again push the boundaries and continue to surprise with each release. 'Cloudbrake' is one of those records that stands out in a club, one that leaves you questioning what you've heard, and coupled with another excellent remix from Lexicon Avenue, is one of those records that is a secret weapon for those with enough sense to obtain a copy.
