Pavel Bidlo "My Pills"

Out Now on Tao Recordings

Pavel Bidlo is a Czech based DJ whom has headlined many nights at some of Eastern Europe's leading clubs, and in the last year or two he's also been developing himself as a producer. Previously we were graced with a release on Shinichi Recordings, a double pack of tracks which put his name on the map. receiving support from not only Danny Howells but Roger Sanchez too. Now he follows it up with his second single, the humorously named 'My Pills'.

'Maurel & Fauvrelle' are on hand to provide the remix, and turn in a dark New York style tribal mix, The production is kept simple, with subtle rhythms and a big percussive lead pushing things forward, with a vocal loop rising up between the heady beats, building to a big solo at the peak in the centre before rolling back down the hill, and repeating itself again, perhaps the one fundamental flaw this mix has, but for fans of the big NYC tribal sound, this will no doubt go down a storm.

Thankfully, the 'Original Mix' is a superb house track, built on a bed of chunky rhythms and floating drum arrangements, meaning that things start off on a big sounding way, pretty much before we even get started. Add some heavy rolling bass and big synths and place them over an incessant funky groove, and you have a rocking track, that coupled with that vocal sample will be one that sticks in your mind, thus also being one the train spotters are guaranteed to enquire about.

A fair release from Tao, that whilst not on a par with some of the label's earlier releases, continues to push forward the label's ethos, and giving us access to some of the many secret weapons MV has in his DJ sets.
