Nic Fanciulli "The Squirrelled EP"

Out Now on Renaissance Recordings

With his collaborative Buick Project and Skylark productions and remixes finding their way into DJ boxes right across the dance music spectrum, Nic Fanciulli is a name on everyone's lips at the moment. Having worked with old school veteran Andy Chatterley extensively for the past two years or so, Nic now branches out into the realm of solo production with 'The Squirrelled EP'.

The title track 'Squirrelled' was written with inclusion on his Renaissance compilation firmly in mind. As dark as you like, twisted house with a lead hook that bites with ferocious menace. Building the track steadily from it's subtle openings, Fanciulli drops a cool riff in amongst the usual acidic influences you'd expect from his brand of house music, and the track summarises exactly what to expect from his DJ sets and forthcoming CD.

'You Snooze You Lose' on the other hand is a total contrast to it's a-side counterpart. A stunning deep tech house track that just sways along haphazardly, it's warm grooves and rich analogue sounds enticing you in, only for the acidic stabs that edge their way in the latter stages of the track providing enough dirt for it to find it's way into those excellent after hours sets. Sublime, bubbling house music that Mark Bell fans will be all too familiar with.

Overall, an outstanding EP that further cements Nic Fanciulli's status as a producer, be it in a solo or collaborative capactiy, and one that you should track down a copy of without haste.
