Muzo "The Mack / Fokker Dude"

Out Now on Segment Records

27-year-old Turkish producer Muzo Berberoglu produces two dark dirty grooves for Matt Black's Segment Records imprint, after grabbing the attention of many with his last release 'Shen' on Silver Planet Recordings some time ago. Here he delivers yet more dancefloor fillers that should receive the same support. 'The Mack' and 'Fokker Dude' are both trippy metallic tunes with spoken word and driving percussion, all in that deep progressive mood.

'The Mack' is a dirty grooved out subtle tune with layers of deep tones and spoken vocals. A solid breaky house beat starts in with reverbed highs and little rolls to break them up. Wet water drops fade into the background of metallic sounds, while luminous pads slowly move in and fall into a thunderous drum that stomps down into the break. A new bassline bubbles underneath and twisted spoken words move threw the ambience. This is a nice subtle tune that could be used as a set builder.

Reduced drums, a chugging house beat and tribal sounds lead into 'Fokker Dude', as creepy synths move through a backdrop of metallic sounds. The beats build a harder groove as more high hats and toms are added, along with a light sparkling arpeggiation. Dark stabs cut down into the drums that drop off into a break introducing sliced up orchestral sounds and the deep voice. The drums pop back in, as the tune rides along dropping in and out of breaks and builds until the end.

With a long gap since his last release, Muzo finally returns, and with a forthcoming track on Red Flag Collective, in addition to collaborations with fellow Turk Barish Turker you can be sure that his name will be one you hear more over the coming months.
