Matthew Dekay Vs Beastie Boys "Intergalactic"

Out Now on White Label

Matthew Dekay had a highly successful 2003, with several singles on labels such as Deep Records and Extrema Records, not to mention remixes for labels such as SOG, Pravda and Private Reality. Now as we head into what looks to be an equally as big 2004, this cheeky white label appears which sees Matthew and occasional collaborator Frederic Gervais go head to head with the mammoth Beastie Boys.

It's a meshing of styles that works surprisingly well, as Matthew and Frederic build up the track with a solid groove, weaving in melodic layers and big stabs that all contribute to the rolling house mood that begins to take shape. Subtle atmospheric fills rise behind the beats, with rippling synth sounds leading into the breakdown, where the familar vocal hook from 'Intergalactic' is let loose, leading into a splendid melodic finale

Nothing earth shattering here, just something fun for dj sets, with the usual quality Matthew Dekay production quality shining through, but when all is said and done it's just a novelty record so it's use is dictated by how quickly it's use gets worn out.
