Kris B "Last Minute Flight"

Out Now on Teknology Records

Kris B is another pretty recent newcomer to the electronic music scene, however this isn't his first release, as he was involved in the creation of the original version of Grayarea's 'One For The Road' which many of you will be familiar with by now. However 'Last Minute Flight' is his latest solo effot, having already found it's way onto Nick Warren's recent Global Underground compilation with support for his material coming from other djs including Hernan Cattaneo. The track name is indeed quite apt as it seems Mr Barleben's profile is heading upwards.

Kris B's 'Original Mix' is built around a swirling atmospheric groove which remains constant throughout. The real ingredient however is the main hook, in this case a synth line which swells amidst piston like beats, building up towards to a huge beat solo and into electronic break, which lowers the tone briefly as the synth hook kicks in, dropping right back into another floaty, beat heavy outro. One of those tracks that will work well any time it's dropped into a set.

The boarding call beckons you to check in for the 'Blackwatch Presents General Dynamics Mix' before it gets underway, so make sure you strap in tightly because as the first beats kick in, you know this is going to be a turbulent journey. Cutting through the cloudy atmospheric mood, Blackwatch and his occasional partner in crime Dave Gardner punch in the designated destination, as the former provides the beats whilst the latter manipulates the intricate melody that engulfs the beats leading into the smaller of the two breaks in the track, diving out and pulling up once more as it flips briefly out of control. Beats drop like air pockets into the groove, causing another nose dive that is reverted by a massive uplifting melody solo and back onto a normal course before landing safely as the chaos on Flight 666 comes to an end.

Both mixes compliment each other, with the original being more on the warm up tip and the remix having a breakdown that will cause a disaster on the dancefloor. Board this flight now, and don't wait till the last minute.
