John Digweed "Warung Beach (Remixes)"

Out Now on Bedrock Records

Digweed is back for more after 'Santiago', however this time going solo for the massive number 'Warung Beach' which has been doing the rounds lately. I found this remix release to be more solid then the initial release with the Original and Mashtronic mixes, but with the recent uprising of the Mashtronic boys, it is no surprise that the other disc has also been received very well.

First up is Tobias Lützenkirchen, who seemingly came out of the blue last year with a wave of solid productions. It is of no wonder Digweed has taken notice of him, and brought him in for remix duties. His work on 'Warung Beach' is a throbbing electro affair, which I felt had a more polished sound to it than the Original Mix. After being featured on Digweed's recent Transitions compilation, this remix has gained a lot of well deserved popularity.

The final remixer is very well known amongst electro fans for his string of works on the BPitch imprint. Kiki's album 'Run With Me' has received rave reviews from all corners, and he has remixed some very hot names in the scene, with Digweed being the latest name added to the growing list. Whilst remaining true to the original, Kiki introduces some twisted up and haunting melodies to the track. It has a very unique feel to it which sets it apart, and this makes it an interesting one to listen to.

There have been mixed opinions from people about these two mixes, and whilst they may not be big room bangers like Mashtronic's mix, I am of the belief that they have more depth and subtle groove to them, which easily place them higher up in my own box. But you'd be well worth checking out both discs, if for nothing else than to see what all the fuss is about!
