Out Now on Bedrock Records

It seems like only yesterday that Bristol's Jim Rivers made his debut on Saw Recordings with 'Restore' but in the two years that have passed he has become a producer and remixer whose body of work speaks for itself, earning him widespread support from his peers and music fans alike. Having recently signed to Eric Prydz's Mouseville imprint, Jim now makes his long overdue debut on Bedrock with the 'Empathy EP'.

Title track 'Empathy' (named after the local club night he resides at in Bristol), is a deeply hypnotic house track. Its percussive layers and underlying groove provide the canvas for wave upon wave of bubbling synth lines with a big lead hook to keep the energy level flowing.

'Revolver' goes deeper still, setting the mood with its rhythmic beats and oscillating analogue style beats and synths. Intertwined with white noise fx and a tight kick drum, it creates a futuristic piece of club music that descends into heads down dancefloor euphoria when the twist drops midway. This is by far one of Rivers' most accomplished tracks to date.

The 'Empathy EP' is another well rounded and versatile EP from one of the most consistent producers around at the moment. If this is the kind of high quality material we can look forward to on Bedrock from now on, I for one cannot wait.
