Out Now on Audio Therapy

Infusion return after a massive 2003 kicked off by the global release of 'Legacy' and followed by remixes of artists that varied from Cass and Adam Freeland to newcomers Shiloh and even updates of old classics by Kate Bush and Transformer 2. They even managed to find time to work on album projects for artists such as JXL, in addition to touring the world. Not a bad year all in all, but as we enter another year, we find they aren't ones to rest on their laurels and are busy in the studio finishing their new studio album set for release in early summer of this year. To tide us over, they have taken time to put together a single for us, but is it true that 'Girls Can Be Cruel'?

The 'Original Version' features the trademark vocal lead that long time fans of Infusion are accustomed to. With a rocking groove of electronic beats, a killer guitar hook and industrial style effects, this grungy breakbeat opus drills home it's message, each layer of twisted beats and pulsating synths adding a dirty edge to the vocal.

Their own 'Infusion Mix' is a tougher, peaktime variation on the original. Techy beats lead in, underpinned by rumbling bass and cut up vocals . As soon as the bass starts rumbling, you know this is going to slam, and slam it does. As each beat shudders into the groove like pneumatic pistons, the groove intensifies like a runaway train, with the vocal line rising above and dominating in it's own fashion. Infusion set the battle lines with this energetic monster of a track, bringing a bit of menace and darkness back to the dancefloors as only they can.

Another huge single from one of Australia's best exports, and hopefully a further precursor of what we can expect from their album following on from their recent Essential Mix.
