Fretwell "Fill Me Up"

Out Now on Electrofly Records

Tim Fretwell has become somewhat of a mainstay of the Electrofly label since it's inception, and along with label mates Shiloh has contributed to cementing the label's reputation for quality and diverse breakbeat music. Having provided several remixes for the label and two prior singles, Tim ventures into new territory with this vocal led epic entitled 'Fill Me UP', which could quite possibly be his most accomplished work yet.

With the 'Vocal Mix' placing the voice of Anita Kelsey into the centre of the usual smooth and silky beats that we've been accustomed to from this rising breaks star, what we have is one seriously sexy and atmospheric track that combines funk and melody, all pulled together by the a tight and techy beat arrangement that kicks and drops its way through the track, setting a funky but effective tempo in place.

The additional 'Dub Mix' strips away the vocal to leave a slick rolling mix that stays true to it's name with some additional tweaking and effects giving it more dub sensibilities than it's a-side counterpart. For those that like deep and trippy headfuck music, this is the mix you will no doubt connect with.

'Fill Me Up' is Fretwell at his very best. A new direction and challenge that he has managed to achieve with relative ease, and as his profile has steadily accelerated over the past two years, one has to wonder what lies on the road ahead.
