Francois DuBois Master H "La Balance"

Out Now on Urbantorque Recordings

Jason Moore really has a great thing going for him with his label Urbantorque Recordings. Bringing in relatively more house than progressive, this label is the one to look for if you are DJing in the sun on the beach or cruising around in your car on a sunny day. Expect beautiful melodies and energetic beats and their newest release comes from the duo of François DuBois and Master H. These two are no strangers to excellent releases, with François’ passionate piano driven number ‘I Try’ released last year on the label making more than a few heads turn. Remixing duties come from another set of talented producers, James Flavour and Break 3000, both from Germany. These two have had numerous releases on their own Dirt Crew Recordings as well as appearances on the brilliant Mood Music Recordings, bringing in more minimal influences to their version of deep house.

A traditional house rhythm introduces the original of ‘La Balance.’ The energy is brought up immediately as lively off-beat percussion as well as a simple driving bass hook come in. François is known for the chord work in his tracks and this song is no exception. Beautiful keys make for a summery, easy going vibe, while the tribal-tech beats keep your body moving along. This tune builds from its first beat until nearly halfway through where the chord work becomes more apparent, taking the crowd in a lighter direction, yet still building in energy all the way through the break, simply letting back a little and then surging forward yet again. The chord work in the breakdown draws you in further and further and then releases right back into the lively rhythm. If you are looking for a straight-ahead track that rolls along with a thunder then this is the one for you.

Dirt Crew bring in some more minimal influences for their rendition of ‘La Balance’ as right from the get go, sharp percussive beats create a very interesting yet simple call and response. The bassline takes the lead from the first break, with a fun and funky feel yet thick and rich enough to make those bassbins rumble and shake the dancefloor. Although a bit stripped back compared to the original, this will keep your listeners eagerly anticipating what is to come. Perfect for a warm-up set over the summer while still getting your floor to start dancing, Dirt Crew have a great way of taking their song and making it a perfect set-up for your next song.

Another enduring release for this excellent label as they continue to amaze their listeners with timeless house music that takes all the best in from all walks of dance music. They have a great way of bringing in lesser known talent and exposing them to a larger audience, as is the case here with Dirt Crew. If you haven’t heard of these producers before, look them up, you will be amazed. Up next for the label comes more summer material from none other than Tiger Stripes with three excellent interpretations from Motorcitysoul and I expect more of this great music to continue to flow from the Urbantorque camp.
