Fitalic "Repriced"

Out Now on 19 Box Recordings

The duo of Robin Fitter and Jeroen Wunderlich, better known to many as Fitalic have made a name for themselves over the past five years with their blend of dancefloor orientated cuts and intelligent production values. With many tracks to their credit, and releases on labels including Vapour, SOG and Majestic, they have slowly worn out a niche in the scene where they can peddle their music. The latest offering is 'Repriced', and comes to us on DJ 19's far eastern imprint 19Box.

The 'Original Mix' is slightly more trancey you would expect if you have previously heard their material on Vapour, but dont let the t word put you off. Based around a big chunky b-line, some shaking percussive layers are slotted into the groove. Synth stabs send ripples through the beats, as soft chimes expire in the backdrop, hidden within a series of sweeps which bring out the subtle melody to culminate in an uplifting yet uncheesy climax which will fill the floor.

'2 Players' take things deeper and darker on the flipside, stripping out the chunky b-line and replacing it with a progressive edged groove, using small drops to build a deep atmospheric energy as the mix build. The melody is teased all the way upto the break, before a brief hiatus lets it fully unfold with sublime results. Another emotive piece of work from 2 Players following on from the recent release of their 'Signet' track.

If anything this is a slightly more 'commercial' release for 19Box, straying away the deeper sounds and ideas that the label normally showcases, but when all is said and done this is a nice little 12" for those who like things a little more upbeat and progressive, but perhaps isnt anything really innovative and is more of a filler for a record box than anything.
