Expressed Soul "I'm Waiting (Remixes)"

Out Now on Fade Records

The original version of Expressed Soul's 'I'm Waiting' was released on the label Just One about six or seven years ago and has been a long time favourite of Chris Fortier's ever since. So much in fact that he decided to license the track and comission remixes for it on Fade. The result are two big room mixes, with Chris taking the dirty house route, and Luke Fair puts his sleazy drums to work in his tough update.

The 'Chris Fortier Mix' is filled with great shaky drums, old analog synth lines and a diva vocal. We start off with female vocals, and then drop into some drums and arpeggiated rhythms that build into a house beat. The bass drops in and grooves for a while building up till a synth comes over and drops us into the break. She sings as all the other sounds disappear. Her voice is smooth with a bit of sass, and as the drums come back in, her voice is cut up and manipulated.

'Luke Fair', one of Canada’s brightest stars, reworks 'I'm Waiting' into a pumping house monster. The drums start in with a sweepy tone that drops straight into the bassline. Its filthy and funky and makes you groove. Lots of quick cuts and kills keep the drums exciting, as her voice drops in and out. A high sound creeps in over the top and we fall into a break. Her voice cuts in all by itself, and the song builds back into the drums.

'I'm Waiting' is a smooth release for Fade Records. Expressed Soul has some great sounds, and with Luke Fair and Chris Fortier on remix duties this is sure to catch the attention of a lot of people.
