ETI & The Waller Street Boys "Cosmic Cons"

Out Now on Sabotage Systems

ETI & The Waller Street Boys are west coast contingent that hooked up with Lee Burridge and dropped 'Cosmic Cons' in his lap during a gig in the area, and when Cass got to witness the track at work, he set about finding out what it was before signing it up for his label, and getting his good friend Paolo Mojo to do a little mix. Needless to say, there's nothing more to it than that, so lets find out what all the fuss is about..

The 'Original Mix' has that big west coast sound that has been making a big impact over the last few months. Techy rhythms and a vibrant, warm bassline sit at the heart of the traditional house groove, whilst some subtle low range layering paves the way for the introduction of string elements and electro sounds, an hypnotic sitting atop the bouncing and funky groove that will have your ass wiggling throughout. Trippy west coast house that has been a staple in the sets of Cass, and now will hopefully do the same for you.

The house don in training 'Paolo Mojo' conjures up a rare remix, upping the tempo slightly and sinking a strange yet effective humming effect in the heart of the mix. Eerie sounds and a big percussive hats drop over the lounge style groove that Paolo has crafted on this mix, warm sounds and a driving tempo leading into the final section where some superb key changes and piano refrains are used with stunning results. For a producer still cutting his teeth in the trade, Paolo really does the business here, and will be one to watch over the next few months.

For me, the track doesn't quite match the quality level of the rest of the output on the label, but is a solid little house groover nevertheless. However, Paolo Mojo does a star turn and turns in a blinding remix that will surprise many who only know him as a DJ, and shows that he's settling in at home on the Sabotage roster quite comfortably, so be sure to check out his latest work, ya hear me?
